🚉 India’s Longest Railway Platform - A World Record!
When we think of world records in railways, Japan or Europe might come to mind. But here’s a surprise: India is home to the longest railway platform in the world - at Hubballi Junction in Karnataka!
📍 Hubballi Junction (Karnataka) now proudly holds the world record, with a platform stretching an astonishing 1,507 meters (over 1.5 km). Opened in 2021 after redevelopment, it dethroned Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur Junction, which had earlier held the record with its 1,366-meter-long platform (inaugurated in 2013).
🔹 The Lineage of Records:
- Kharagpur Junction (West Bengal) - Once the record-holder (1,072 meters).
- Gorakhpur Junction (Uttar Pradesh) - Held the global title from 2013 till 2021.
- Hubballi Junction (Karnataka) - The current world leader, recognized as the longest railway platform in the world.
Imagine standing on a platform so long that you could fit 15 full-length trains end-to-end. That’s India’s engineering marvel! 🚂✨
